Lasdrop Dry-Seal

DrySeal

The DrySeal features a compact, economical lip seal design that can be installed quickly and easily. As in all Lasdrop seals, the unit incorporates a water lubricated bearing in the housing to keep the unit properly aligned with the shaft.
The DrySeal has an optional back-up seal that if installed during the original time of installation can be installed without removing the unit or the shaft. Available in shaft sizes 3/4" to 8", accommodating any size stern tube up to 10 1/2" in diameter. Metric sizes available. Also an excellent rudder shaft seal.

  • Seal housing constructed of a durable copolymer with built in water lubricated bearing ensuring proper alignment to the shaft.
  • Self-adjusting marine grade inner lip seal
  • Optional Back-up seal rotates with the shaft until replacement is needed.
  • Solid Brass hose barbs
  • AWAB hose clamps are 316 stainless steel, manufactured with indentations rather than perforations, providing twice the tensile strength and eliminating friction as in regular clamps
  • Split–Faceplate makes it easy to replace seal without special tools.

Original Bellows

Original Bellows

The Original "Bellows" face seal features a vibration-absorbing bellows ideal for use on sailboats, powerboats or workboats. Our AMORFLEX bellows are second to none. This product is constructed of silicon rubber and hand wrapped in three layers of fiberglass on the inside. The unit is then vulcanized, providing not only superior strength and durability, but also resistance to heat and diesel fuel.
Specially balanced for smooth rotaion, the maintenance "Original" features 316 grade stainless steel and special carbon graphite for its sealing surfaces. Available for shafts of 7/8" to 8" (22 mm to 200 mm). Like all Lasdrop models, a water lubricated bearing is incorporated in to the product to ensure correct alignment with the shaft. The Original Bellows seal will fit stern tubes from 1 1/2" to 10 1/2" (38 mm - 267 mm) in diameter.

  • Clamp Ring assembly uses two clamps for maximum strength and proper balancing, preventing galling or damage to the shaft that can occur with setscrews.
  • Seal ring is 316 stainless steel, set in a counter bore in the clamp ring assembly to ensure centering, eliminating metal-to-metal contact and risk of electrolysis.
  • To insure the "O" Ring is not damaged during installation, it is clamped to the shaft after the assembly reaches it’s final location.
  • AWAB hose clamps are 316 stainless steel, manufactured with indentations rather than perforations, providing twice the tensile strength and eliminating friction as in regular clamps.

Gen II

Gen II Seal

The Gen II offers exclusive features that make it the premier shaft seal on the market. The culmination of more than a quarter century of experience in shaft seal design, the Gen II offers a unique ball-bearing drive system that allows the seal ring to "float" and remain in constant contact with the carbon graphite seal surface. The result is a seal that's impenetrable to water.
The Gen II uses a 316-marine grade stainless steel spring to provide pressure to the seal surfaces. Together, the spring and seal ring rotate along with the shaft, and remain secured in the Clamp/Pressure housing. Because there's virtually no metal-to-metal contact, you eliminate the risk of electrolysis.
The Gen II is available for shaft sizes 1" – 4," accommodating stern tube sizes of up to 8" OD.

  • The Friction Ring assembly is mounted with a rigid connection hose and uses a carbon graphite sealing surface all encased by a durable copolymer housing.
  • Built into the friction ring assembly is a water lubricated bearing to ensure proper and constant alignment to the shaft.
  • The Clamp/Pressure Assembly secures the assembly around the shaft, preventing the galling or damage to the shaft that can occur with setscrews.
  • The 316 stainless steel seal ring floats on a ball bearing drive system, maintaining complete contact with the carbon graphite seal surface.
  • Solid brass hose barbs
  • AWAB hose clamps are 316 stainless steel, manufactured with indentations rather than perforations, providing twice the tensile strength and eliminating friction as in regular clamps.
